Lewis who was an African American track and field star. Carl Lewis was born on July 1, 1961in Birmingham, Alabama. He won 9 Olympic gold, one Olympic sliver medal, and 10 world championship medals. His career lasted from 1979 until 1996. Lewis is one of three Olympic athletes who has won a gold medal in the same event four consecutive times in the Olympic games.
